Fallu McMillan Lawyers is proud to sponsor Back to Limestone, a conference celebrating 200 years since the first European settlement in Ipswich.

Jointly convened by the Royal Historical Society of Queensland and the Ipswich Historical Society, the conference marks the bicentenary of Commandant Logan’s arrival in 1826–27, when soldiers and convicts were sent to Ipswich to extract limestone for Brisbane’s earliest buildings — the beginning of our city’s story.

Event details:

  • Date: Saturday, 5 September 2026
  • Venue: Dandiiri Room, 1 Nicholson Street, Ipswich
  • Time: 8:30am registration, concluding 4:15pm
  • Cost: $35 per person (morning and afternoon tea included; lunch available from nearby cafes and restaurants)
  • Free for high school students

The day features twelve presentations from local historians and community figures covering topics including Logan’s settlement, early coal mining, the railways, colonial military history, and the history of dance in Ipswich — alongside reflections from descendants of Ipswich’s founding families.

As a long-standing Ipswich firm, Fallu McMillan Lawyers is honoured to support an event celebrating the history and heritage of the community we’ve served for so many years.
